Description and Support

Acahela Letterboxing Course

Part of the four elements making up the Acahela Compass & Navigation Award, Letterboxing combines the compass skills used in the Compass Game and the map reading skills used on the Orienteering Course to find hidden caches that contain a unique rubber stamp. A scorecard is stamped by the participant at each of the four target locations once the caches are found, and the completed scorecard is returned to the leader to receive credit for completing the course.

This activity accurately demonstrates what can be found "out in the real world", so that participants get an accurate idea of what the sport is all about and what kind of caches they can expect to find.
