The Council Historical Committee is pleased to announce that Tom Kameroski’s book, “A History of Goose Pond Scout Reservation” has recently been published and available at the Scout Shop and the Camp Trading Post.
In addition to a complete narrative history of Goose Pond and the camp honor societies, the book is loaded with over 200 archival photos of The Pond dating as far back as the 1920’s.
The book is also accompanied by a DVD of vintage film footage of Goose Pond from the 20’s, 30’s and 40’s. The video segments were converted from old 16mm ‘home movie’ film reels.
The book with DVD is only $17 and is currently in stock at The Scout Shop. If you would like to purchase one and have it shipped to you, call Dave at the Service Center (570-207-1227) or email goosepond@nepabsa.org.

There are seven outstanding reasons Goose Pond Scout Reservation has the reputation it's earned for being a great place to go for Boy Scout summer resident camp. Take a look at this (or click here to skip to the unit registration form) :
PROGRAM CONTENT - Here at Goose Pond, we make sure your Scouts have plenty to do and can earn loads of merit badges or meet lots of requirements for rank. At the same time, it's all elective. If you decide to just take it easy and fish all week, feel free! At the heart of it all is a program filled with great activities and loads of fun. We even make sure our leaders enjoy themselves with great trainings and competitions such as our famous "Geezer Games", Coffee Mug Relay, and T-Dock Golf. A quick look at the latest copy of the GPSR Program Guide will fill you in on all the details. Click here for your copy...
PROGRAM ORGANIZATION - The Programs won't mean anything if you can't get to them or know where or when they are and you won't find a better organized program anywhere! The Pond now offers an On-Line Merit Badge Registration that includes our terrific "Pathfinder" Program for your brand new Scouts. Click here to go to our registration pages...
TOP NOTCH STAFF - GPSR is proud of the record and high praise our staff receives every season serving the units that camp with us. We strive to be sure you and your Scouts have a summer camping experience that they will not only enjoy, but want to repeat year after year. Being a part of our staff is a high honor. GREAT FACILITY - Goose Pond Scout Reservation boasts a wonderful facility surrounding a 43-acre glacial pond that is spring fed. There are a variety of campsites tucked into the surrounding forest, as well as Rifle, Shotgun, and Archery Ranges, a top-notch C.O.P.E. course, huge Scoutcraft and outdoor learning areas, as well as a waterfront facility that is difficult to beat with sailing, kyacking, canoeing, rowboating, fishing, and swimming, just to name a few. If you want to see it for yourself, check out our virtual tour of the camp by clicking here. Then come and stay with us for a weekend in the offseason, and we can arrange to give your unit leadership a personal tour.
LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION - Located just a half a mile west of Lake Wallenpaupak, Goose Pond is just outside of Hamlin, Pennsylvania and only ten minutes from Interstate 84, making it convenient to get to for both in council and out-of-council units. This location means GPSR is part of the Pocono region and has easy access to all kinds of sites and activities you can enjoy on your way to or from The Pond, or experience in the off-season while staying with us again. HISTORICITY MEETS TECHNOLOGY - Stepping through our main gate in many ways is like stepping back through time and getting a chance to experience many of the same things that five generations of Scouts have experienced at Goose Pond. Our Dining Hall is packed with memorabilia from almost 90 seasons of camping at The Pond. Yet we've worked hard to keep Goose Pond's great traditions intact while keeping our program and facility up-to-date with the needs of today's campers. Sit on the same porch overlooking the waterfront where your great grandfather sat while cruising the Internet on our free Wi-Fi system or check out our on-line Merit Badge registration program by clicking here...
GREAT VALUE - With all these great reasons to come to Goose Pond for summer camp, it makes the cost of being here a great value. You simply get so much for your money, and in this day and age, that's icing on the cake! To reserve a space for your unit in the 2009 Summer Season, click here...
